How to Achieve Beautiful Skin After the Holidays?

This publication is also available in: Français English (UK) Deutsch Italiano Español

We know that the holidays are synonymous with food excesses, alcohol, and sweets. In short, everything that is bad for beautiful skin and health!

If we talk a lot about getting back to a healthier lifestyle to regain our figure, we mention less often the influence of the holidays on the skin. Yet, everything is connected, and an excess of fatty and sugary foods is just as harmful to the epidermis.

The skin, like the rest of the body, needs to recover after this festive period. Fortunately, there are simple and effective solutions to restore its glow. Here are some little tips to start the new year beautifully and in great health!

Do a 10-Day Detox

I’m not talking about a diet aimed at restricting yourself to burn off the calories accumulated during Christmas, no, I’m referring to starting a short detox that, far from being superficial, will actually do your body good from the inside out.

The goal? Give your body the vitamins it needs (this is important, especially in winter), restore a healthy gut flora, and hydrate it well so that your skin regains its beauty.

My tip: research the foods you enjoy that are good for your skin. You’ll have more pleasure eating them and cooking them in various ways, like squash, an excellent source of beta-carotene, which can be consumed in soup, baked, in pie…

Drink Plenty of Fluids for Beautiful Skin

We know that drinking water is the simplest and most effective beauty gesture. After the holidays, marked by food, sugar, and champagne excesses, your skin may appear dull, tired, or even marked. Fortunately, there’s a miracle remedy (and it’s free) within reach: water!

Water eliminates accumulated toxins, reduces imperfections, and hydrates your skin from the inside. The result? A brighter complexion, plumper skin, and an immediate feeling of freshness. For even more effectiveness, opt for homemade flavored water with slices of lemon or cucumber, a detox trick that’s as chic as it is effective.

If you find it hard to drink enough water, try green tea. This draining beverage is perfect for purifying your body and giving your skin a second wind. Sure, it’s not champagne, but your glowing complexion will thank you!

My tip: invest in a large two-liter bottle and keep it close to you throughout the day. Goal? At least 1.5 liters of water per day to start the year with radiant skin ready to shine.

Readjust Your Winter Beauty Routine: Simple Gestures for Protected Skin

Since the rise of the Korean beauty wave, many of us have adopted multi-step skincare routines, but winter requires some essential adjustments. With the cold and wind, the skin becomes more sensitive and needs appropriate care to remain radiant and protected.

From November, it’s time to rethink your beauty routine. Integrate richer and more nourishing creams that provide a protective barrier against external aggressions. Don’t forget a lip balm to prevent chapping caused by the cold – a winter must-have.

My tip: choose a day cream specifically formulated for sensitive skin, like those from Avène, which soothe and protect your skin when you’re outdoors. Finally, don’t skip sunscreen with an SPF of 15 or 30, even in winter, as UV rays remain one of the main factors of premature skin aging.

Going to Bed Early: Your Best Health Ally

The family has left, the marathon of visits and trips to see auntie and the cousins is over. Phew! After the long, endless meals, the New Year’s Eve, and game nights, it’s finally time to think about yourself again. And, let’s be honest, especially if you traveled to see your family, the lack of sleep is noticeable (and, spoiler alert, it’s visible on your skin too).

So it’s time… to sleep! Going to bed early has become trendy, but it’s primarily an excellent habit for health (perhaps a bit less for your social life, but that’s another story). By sleeping before 10 PM, you allow your body to fully benefit from deep sleep phases. These phases are essential for cellular regeneration, boosting the immune system, and even for alleviating accumulated stress.

And the cherry on top, your skin will thank you: it’s during the night that collagen production intensifies, leaving your complexion fresher and more radiant. So, after the holiday excesses, treat yourself to the luxury of rest. Swap your last Netflix episode for a fluffy pillow, and start the year with beautiful skin (and energy).

Learn to Breathe for Brighter Skin

We all know how to breathe, well, we do it without thinking. But did you know that this natural action could be one of the best-kept secrets for having brighter and more radiant skin? Conscious breathing, or learning to breathe properly, can truly enhance your skin’s glow.

By breathing deeply and slowly, you promote the intake of oxygen in your body, which allows your cells, including those in your skin, to regenerate. This helps eliminate toxins, stimulates blood circulation, and restores your skin’s balance. A simple practice that could transform your complexion and even give you younger-looking skin!
