They took a final bow after the Jil Sander show in Milan, the brand’s home base. Lucie and Luke Meier are stepping down from the artistic direction of the minimalist luxury brand after nearly eight years of dedicated service. The announcement came on February 26, just after the presentation of the autumn-winter 2025 collection.
The president of the OTB group, owner of Jil Sander, praised their vision, quest for excellence, and commitment to the house.
A question now arises: who will take over the artistic direction of Jil Sander? While we await more information, here is a selection of must-have pieces to shop right now.
Jil Sander under the Meier Era
Under the artistic direction of Lucie and Luke Meier, Jil Sander has regained its full brilliance. The couple, who met at Polimoda in Florence in 2001, successfully reinterpreted the minimalist DNA of the German house (originating from Hamburg) with a touch of emotion and an obsession with detail. Their vision, balancing rigor and sensitivity, has given the brand a valuable stability while celebrating craftsmanship and the purity of lines. A successful bet: in 2023, sales surged by 17.3%, proving that Jil Sander’s minimalist style has lost none of its allure.
My Favorite Jil Sander Pieces
Personally, I love the minimalism at Jil Sander, as the designers have infused it with an almost polar purity, a signature that, when paired with timeless cuts, perfectly embodies the spirit of quiet luxury.
If, like me, you are a fan of the clean aesthetic of the German house, here is a selection of iconic pieces that are both minimalist and casual.
- Relaxed Cotton Pants

- 35 mm Leather Ankle Boots
I can’t talk about Jil Sander without mentioning the chunky-soled boots. This design is one I particularly adore, as it allows for wearing both jeans and skirts, short or long, while remaining comfortable. If you need to dress elegantly while walking around the city, this is exactly the kind of shoe I recommend.

- Reversible Padded Mini Skirt
A skirt that doesn’t go unnoticed. Here too, we have a piece that appears rather simple with a symmetrical cut, but what makes all the difference is the quality of the material and its reversibility. Made of 100% polyamide, an elastic and breathable material, it offers great freedom of movement and above all… absolute comfort.
However, be careful, as polyamide tends to show creases easily. It is therefore essential to strictly follow the washing and drying instructions to care for this skirt and keep it looking impeccable for as long as possible.

- Medium Leather Shoulder Bag
It may look simple, but its luxurious details make it unique. Made in Italy, this eggshell-colored bag stands out with its four knots on the handles, adding an original touch to its minimalist design.

- Chain Earrings
You can be a minimalist brand and dare to use gold: here’s proof with these long earrings that will enhance an outfit in neutral tones, paired with light makeup.
If, like me, you favor a clean style with beautiful basics (or luxury if you can), put everything on accessories and jewelry. These are what will transform your look, taking it from simple to unique!

More basic than this, you die… and yet, it remains iconic. This long-sleeve t-shirt is designed for men, but let me tell you that if you love pairing oversized neutral pieces with little details that make a difference, a detour to the men’s section is a must!
