LOEWE Issue 4: the magazine celebrating art and creation

This publication is also available in: Français English (UK) Deutsch Italiano Español

Released at the end of August, the LOEWE Issue 4 reveals through its pages an ode to craftsmanship and art in a broader sense. This is a way for the Spanish house to make us relive the key moments of the past months, as well as to offer us a unique and privileged view of the behind-the-scenes of its pieces and shows. We were fortunate enough to get a copy, which amazed us so much that we must share our feelings with you.

LOEWE Issue 4: A Work of Art in Its Own Right

Like the books published by houses, the LOEWE Issue 4 presents itself as an exceptional piece to showcase in your living room. Its format, closer to a magazine, is wrapped in a refinement that marries the signature creativity of the house.

Notably, there is a double embossed cover that, when unfolded, reveals a poster showcasing the making of Ayo Edebiri’s dress (The Bear) for the MET Gala.

Then, upon opening the LOEWE Issue 4, a mysterious little envelope presents itself to us. Adorned with the house’s monogram, it contains prints of photos taken by Erinn Springer. These snapshots, conceived in response to the paintings of Albert York integrated into the women’s fall-winter 2024 show, offer a new interpretation of the collection and play on the senses. These rectangles of poetry against a backdrop of mist and green expanses find a prime spot within the pages of LOEWE Issue 4, delicately pre-cut to slide these artistic parentheses into.

The magazine thus continues its creation with its reader and offers a creative and unique experience, in line with the DNA created by Jonathan Anderson for the house. Moreover, an online game is accessible via a QR code for even deeper immersion into the universe.

Dive into the Backstage of LOEWE

From the MET Gala to the fall-winter 2024 fashion week show, the LOEWE Issue 4 reveals the backstage of these recent significant events. Through interviews with the house’s ambassadors, individuals surrounding art, and the perspective of Jonathan Anderson, the book offers a new perspective on the creations, collections, and LOEWE collaborations.

Notably, we learn more about the thought process surrounding the universe of the FW24 collection. The origin of its green hues and trompe-l’oeil, its inspiration drawn from porcelain art and furniture from the 17th to 19th centuries. Steven Moore’s insights provide us with a fascinating 360° lesson in history and style!

The LOEWE Issue 4 also unveils a little Proustian madeleine, with the story behind its tooth box, adorned with a small mouse.

Craftsmanship at the Heart of LOEWE Issue 4

The love and respect for craftsmanship are among the foremost characteristics of the house. And, it is partly for this reason that I cherish the house so much, in addition to their highly developed creativity. Thus, naturally, LOEWE Issue 4 honors the various artisanal trades that form the DNA of the house.

The book invites us to rediscover the echo present between its wallets/purses and bags. The know-how behind its leather pieces is here combined with a beautiful story and heritage, which perpetuates the house’s signature cuts.

Innovation and ecological awareness also have their place, with a focus on the Flamenco Surplus. This version of the iconic LOEWE handbag combines material scraps that reveal poetic assemblies reminiscent of seaside landscapes or grand canyons.

Research is also evident with the jacket from the spring-summer 2023 men’s collection, incorporating chia and oat seeds.

The emphasis is also placed on the pearl compositions of the new collection. As well as the work on collars, using materials such as wood or aluminum. This quest for creativity, present in the pieces from the runway shows, reflects that of the various artists showcased during the Salone del Mobile in Milan or the LOEWE Foundation Craft Prize, which we had the opportunity to attend.

Through the work of materials, play of forms, textures, and light, some of these creations showcased are honored in the LOEWE Issue 4, to our utmost delight. These sculptures, reflecting techniques and know-how from around the world, highlight how much the house and Jonathan Anderson cherish not just fashion, but art in general, its history, its evolution, and all the possibilities it offers.

The magazine presents itself, thus, as a cocoon of inspiration and celebration of the various creative profiles that contribute to the universe of the LOEWE house.

The book immerses us, more than ever, in the universe of the Spanish house. And, we can even extend the journey, thanks to the wasabi-based recipes imagined by Nokx Majozi to echo the new range of candles of this scent.

Of course, Paula’s Ibiza gives us one last summery note before we snuggle under our blanket with, we hope, a new issue to devour.
