With each change of season, one thing goes hand in hand with our change of wardrobe. Indeed, a change of fragrance occurs to accompany our upcoming entrance into winter. On this occasion, we wanted to highlight one of our latest scented discoveries that enveloped us in its woody and slightly fruity notes. Encelade, the new eau de parfum by Marc-Antoine BARROIS, has taken us into its universe that is both delicate and strong in character, combining both feminine and masculine notes, making it a creation as unique as the imaginary world from which it stems.

Encountering a Dreamlike World with the New Marc-Antoine BARROIS Perfume

Presented in a deep blue box, embraced by a golden sleeve illustrated with an enchanted universe, the dive into the dreamlike world of the eau de parfum Marc-Antoine BARROIS, Encelade, begins as soon as you encounter it.

This new fragrance is the birth of an enchanting universe, thanks to the union of three spirits and creative visions. The vision of the designer and founder Marc Antoine BARROIS, the perfumer of the house, Quentin BISCH, and the imagination of the sculptor Jean BOGGIO, an artisan, goldsmith, and contemporary artist.

Like the previous creations of the house, with B683 and Ganymede, Encelade fits into the same lineage of inspired fragrances, echoing galaxies and mythology. An ode to life and another world, nourished by imagination and escape. A sumptuous marriage between a visual universe filled with childhood dreams, and that of a radical perfume, full of olfactory surprises.

This eau de parfum by Marc-Antoine BARROIS rests on a duality between strong notes and more subtle notes. Nuances that highlight the union of inspirations, between the rocky hell of a volcano, from which emanates the story of the eponymous giant from Greek mythology. Against the snowy purity, and the vision of a lush jungle, of a satellite dancing the waltz with Saturn. Encelade connects two universes in its glass bottle, revealing engaged notes full of subtlety, against a backdrop of rebellion.

A Mixed Scent that Reveals Each Person’s Character

The nose of Quentin BISCH created, for this third scented opus, an astonishing bouquet, highlighting this desire for play between shadow and light. We find a cushion of woody notes, between sandalwood, cedar atlas, and vetiver. All led by a tonifying green rhubarb, bringing a breath of freshness to the deeper scents of the composition. To tie these paradoxical notes together, smoky leather joins the assembly. The fruity veil of rhubarb gives this chameleon dimension to the fragrance, which can equally perfume characterful men and women, in search of bold notes, all while embracing sensuality thanks to the influences of tonka bean.

The new Marc-Antoine BARROIS perfume aligns with the imagination that gave life to its scents. And, in our opinion, honors the heroic world that presents itself as the common thread of the conception of Encelade.

We appreciate the desire to create a mixed Marc-Antoine BARROIS perfume, allowing each person’s personality to shine through, with a mysterious and enchanting veil. A woman can thus envelop herself in notes that highlight her strength and conviction. Meanwhile, a man can find notes that enhance his finesse and delicacy. This fragrance, both delicate and flamboyant, departs from others we’ve become accustomed to testing, and leaves us charmed.

Making an Ode to the Earth While Caring for It

We wish to highlight artisans who engage in a more environmentally conscious approach, and who are aware of the changes that need to be made.

The story of the Marc-Antoine BARROIS perfume line resonates particularly with this desire. Following an awareness of the alert state we live in, the designer, who initially worked alongside great names like Jean-Paul GAULTIER before opening his own house, made it a point to rethink his approach to creation.

On one hand, in the making of his ready-to-wear pieces. By emphasizing their creation in a Parisian workshop, with fabrics intelligently sourced nearby. Then naturally, in the second phase, it was in creating the house’s fragrances that a reflection imposed itself, in order to reconsider their composition to make them healthier for the user.

Each Marc-Antoine BARROIS perfume now adheres to a specification that has removed any ingredient deemed a potential endocrine disruptor, such as preservatives and UV filters. The house even reformulated its creation B683 to align with these new expectations and values.

Beyond just the composition of a perfume, its entire creation has been revised, down to its packaging. Thus, on one hand, to be 100% made and assembled in France, but also to design more responsible boxes and packaging. The house now works with an ESAT in Île-de-France for the design of its boxes, aimed at eliminating any non-recyclable foam or plastic elements. This new vision of packaging not only makes it entirely recyclable, but also gives it a reusable aspect due to its box format. Waste reduction extends to the application of a sticker as a mark of authenticity for the product, instead of using plastic film wrapping.

In addition to the progress and changes already made, the house is considering working on refillable formats for the Marc-Antoine BARROIS perfume line. Being always in a pursuit of improvement is, in our opinion, a vital quality to have these days, to move forward, and inspire others.

In addition to taking care of the earth, the house also places great importance on accessibility to work for all. Particularly by collaborating with men and women with disabilities or those distanced from the job market, to help them reintegrate more easily into the professional environment.
