This Monday, February 23, was a highly anticipated day in the fashion world. The theme of the MET Gala 2026 dress code has been revealed: it is \u201cFashion is Art\u201d<\/u><\/strong>. The MET Gala, which takes place at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York on May 4, marks the opening of the year’s major fashion exhibition, themed \u201cCostume Art\u201d<\/u><\/strong>. The dress code for the evening is therefore very close to that of the exhibition, and we can expect to see pieces that resonate with paintings or works of art. Who is on the MET Gala committee this year?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In addition to the theme of the MET Gala dress code<\/a>, the names of the personalities on the committee are equally important information.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This year, we will of course see Anna Wintour<\/u><\/strong>, former editor-in-chief<\/em> of Vogue<\/em> from 1988 to 2025, who now holds the title of Global Chief Content Officer and Artistic Director at Cond\u00e9 Nast, the company that owns Vogue<\/em>. The Costume is Art Exhibition<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

For the lucky ones visiting New York this year, or the intrepid travelers heading to the United States, what can we expect to see at the exhibition \u201cCostume is Art\u201d<\/u><\/strong> offered by the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The exhibition explores the intimate relationship between clothing and the human body<\/u><\/strong>, serving as a guiding thread for a journey designed as a dialogue between art and fashion. According to curator Andrew Bolton, it draws inspiration from \u201cthe centrality of the dressed body in the museum’s vast collection.\u201d In other words, clothing is not just an accessory here: it becomes the subject, language, and presence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This edition will also mark the inauguration of the new Cond\u00e9 M. Nast Galleries, a permanent space of nearly 12,000 square feet dedicated to fashion, located near the Great Hall of the Met.
