Capri is not over… and it\u2019s even a beginning for Simon Porte-Jacquemus who, after opening a new boutique, is definitely enjoying his best season under the Italian sun. 15 years of Jacquemus<\/strong>, that\u2019s worth celebrating! It was in an intimate setting that the Proven\u00e7al designer unveiled his collection as a tribute to the film Contempt<\/strong><\/em> by Jean-Luc Godard on the heights of Casa Malaparte, which stretches across the horizon of the Mediterranean.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dua Lipa<\/strong>, Gwyneth Paltrow<\/strong>, Laetitia Casta<\/strong>, and Jennie Kim<\/strong> were among the guests, along with his family and his husband Marco Maestri<\/strong>, of course.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Let\u2019s take a look back at a sunny and moving show<\/strong> that elevates the French designer even more to the status of a fashion icon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

1\/ Inspiration from the film Contempt<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Normally, filming at Casa Malaparte is not permitted. But that didn\u2019t stop Simon Porte-Jacquemus, who managed to convince the heirs that his fashion show would pay tribute to the film Contempt<\/strong><\/em>, filmed in the house in 1963 under the lens of Jean-Luc Godard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The show opens with the first model wrapped in a feathered robe that recalls the final scene of the film where Brigitte Bardot and Michel Piccoli converse on the terrace of the house.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Another outfit, another vibe with a pale pink striped shirt referencing an outfit worn by Brigitte Bardot<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2\/ The grandeur of Casa Malaparte<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Built in the late 1930s for Italian writer, diplomat, and filmmaker Curzio Malaparte, a figure of resistance against Mussolini’s fascism.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2023 at the MET Gala, Simon Porte Jacquemus wore a jacket that had a photo of the villa taken by Karl Lagerfeld sewn into the lining.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The designer, who passed away in 2019, had actually released a book simply titled Casa Malaparte<\/em> in 1998.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2016, Casa Malaparte was once again honored in cinema as the official poster of the Cannes Film Festival.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

A villa with an intellectual past that has always fascinated designers for its culture, geographical architecture, and incredible view overlooking the Mediterranean.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

3\/ Under the sun… exactly<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

40 guests under 40 degrees in the sun. A glass of water before the show for the guests, and off we go!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If the location is stunning, it\u2019s difficult to find a shady spot. In Capri, in June, it\u2019s hot, very hot, and while Casa Malaparte is a gem of architecture<\/strong> with its terrace offering a breathtaking view and its cinematic stairs, it\u2019s impossible to escape the sun.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fortunately, most guests dressed in Jacquemus<\/a> (except for Giancarlo Giammetti<\/strong> in a white suit by Valentino<\/a>) wore light colors dear to Simon Porte-Jacquemus, with lots of pink, plenty of white, and red for singer Peggy Gou<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

4\/ The importance of geometry<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

A collection heavily inspired by architecture<\/strong> featuring triangle necklines supported by triangular shoulder pads.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The wide-brimmed hat is reimagined as a corset at Jacquemus, transforming it into a top with soft, geometric shapes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Some zebra patterns<\/strong> scattered among the well-tailored silhouettes. Geometry yes, but humor, especially the humor that persists with Simon Porte Jacquemus, who enjoys making his shirt collars asymmetrical to create “mistakes” as he puts it. Neither minimalist nor maximalist, just simple and pure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

5\/ Mama, Grandma, and the rest of the family<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The family, so dear to Jacquemus, was present. Let\u2019s start at the beginning, with his mother. At the end of the show, Simon pays tribute to his mother, who passed away in a car accident when he was just 18 years old. He borrowed her name “Jacquemus” when he created his brand at 21. Then, his grandmother, Liline.<\/strong> She is a fan of his, and he is a fan of hers, the circle is complete.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

His husband Marco Maestri<\/strong>, moved to tears at the end of the show, embraces him warmly. The couple also became proud parents of twins this spring!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The rest of the family continues to encourage him, and those who couldn\u2019t attend the show were waiting just down by the house… in boats moored near the casa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

6\/ Capri blue and pastel<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The models showcased a slow, very slow walk, very dolce vita, allowing the guests to fully enjoy the creations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Light colors, including plenty of white, blue, and pastel pink, a bit of turquoise and touches of red<\/strong> paying homage to a scene from the film Contempt where Brigitte Bardot emerges from the bathroom wrapped in a red towel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The model Deva Cassel<\/strong> wore one of the standout outfits from the show, very dolce vita, featuring a flowing ruffled top and a sheer skirt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

7\/ The K-pop sweetness above the Mediterranean<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Last but not least, singer Jennie Kim<\/strong>, international K-pop star and member of the group Blackpink<\/strong>, closed the show in a black flared dress, fitted close to the body with a slow and sensual walk. It was Jennie\u2019s first runway show, and according to Simon Porte-Jacquemus, she was very touching.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The designer embraces her at the end of the show before greeting his audience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On Instagram, the Korean singer thanked Simon, adding that he is an inspiration to the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Conclusion: I often watch fashion shows, sometimes on runways, mostly on YouTube… and I must say I was surprised to feel so moved watching the 47 silhouettes that made up this Jacquemus show. Especially since I watched it on my smartphone, in between tasks. I can\u2019t even imagine what the guests must have felt. Seriously, this show is more than fashion, it\u2019s art.<\/strong> Go watch it; I hope you will love it as much as I did!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
