This publication is also available in: Français English (UK) Deutsch Italiano Español

This weekend, it’s off to Germany for the Berlin Fashion Week! Among the standout shows, it’s impossible to miss Insomnia, the latest runway show by Marcel Ostertag showcasing his 2025 collection.

Drawing inspiration from the eclectic energy of Berlin’s streets, the designer – trained at the prestigious Central Saint Martins in London – views fashion as a true platform for reflection, integrating eco-friendly innovations into his creations.

As this edition of Fashion Week comes to a close, it’s time to take you on a colorful debrief of the Insomnia show!

Debrief of Marcel Ostertag’s Show in Berlin

There are certain shows you wouldn’t miss for the world at Berlin Fashion Week, and Marcel Ostertag’s is undeniably one of them.

For several reasons: first, the music and the ultra-confident strides of the models, which give the show a perfectly controlled rhythm. This might seem trivial compared to the outfits, but we all know that it’s these details and this precision that allow for a total immersion in the creator’s universe.

The show opens with techno music. Marcel Ostertag draws his inspiration from the soul of Berlin: from geeks to clubbers, with disco influences in between. A true concentrate of eternal youth, carried by feminine silhouettes of all ages, resolutely ready to embrace the night.

Since I became a fashion editor, I believe I’ve seen one of the most beautiful models of my career on this runway: Petra van Bremen, a stunning 65-year-old model with impressive hair. She closed the show and I promise you that gasps could be heard in the front rows as she walked with incredible class and charisma.

The Silhouettes

It’s impossible to know what to expect, except to be surprised. Marcel Ostertag boldly mixes influences: on one side, oversized faux fur coats that evoke the Berlin silhouettes roaming the clubs, and on the other, outfits that are decidedly sexy, reminiscent of the carefree elegance of the French Riviera. Here are the strong trends spotted during the show:

  • Mint Green

It’s a soft color, but used in faux fur coats, it stands out. This shade was paired with white or darker forest green to add depth, along with lace details.

  • Electric Blue

We’re talking about a total electric blue look! Bright and bold, electric blue made its mark through two contrasting silhouettes: a sportswear jacket-pants set worn bare-chested for a raw effect (easily adaptable with a white top to soften the look), and an ultra-disco version with a short ruffled jacket, puff sleeves, and flared pants, directly inspired by the 70s.

  • Glasses

From sunglasses accompanying an oversized faux fur coat to geeky glasses as the final touch to a rather tame look with a sequined jacket, we know that Marcel Ostertag has a passion for glasses, and of course, he uses this favorite accessory to structure his looks and affirm his aesthetic.

  • Cut-Outs

Right from the opening of the show, a cut-out dress adorned with small barrettes captures attention. This detail, both aesthetic and structuring, can be found on several pieces, while the long dresses of the runway oscillate between a dramatic vampiric allure and a playful nod to the 2000s.

  • Faux Fur

Marcel Ostertag is among those designers who work with eco-friendly materials from the earliest stages of creation, and his collections are as eco-friendly as possible. The faux furs in black or mint green tell the unique aesthetic of the city of Berlin as well as its progressive side.
