The concert outfit: more fashionable and trendy than ever

After sneaking into the most anticipated music events of the year, we’ve come to a conclusion: the concert outfit has taken on a whole new dimension lately! Going so far as to give rise to trends on social media, the outfits worn at these events are no longer thrown together haphazardly. Indeed, whether in the crowd or on stage, concert outfits now transform mosh pits into fashion weeks and stages into catwalks worthy of the biggest fashion shows. Fashion and music have become one, through outfits thoughtfully designed down to the last detail, creating a sense of community on one side and highlighting talents and creators on the other.

The concert outfit: the dress code of a community

Between video lookbooks, boutique vlogs, piece selections in carousel format, and trendy outfit reveal reels… The concept of the concert outfit has become a true trend on social media lately. So much so that putting together an outfit seems to generate as much stress as the battle experienced a few months ago on Ticketmaster!

Indeed, gone are the days when we would pick a random outfit focused on comfort or a combo of jeans and a t-shirt with the artist’s image… Now, choosing the pieces we will wear to a concert is an integral part of the experience, and we have played the game ourselves!

The concert outfits of Olivia Dean and Bad Bunny: two venues, two vibes

While it may be amusing to see the same outfits 4673 times, it’s also delightful to see a genuine community forming around an artist and so many people getting into the spirit for a night. The concert outfit thus becomes a sort of uniform, providing a sense of belonging to a group sharing common passions and enhancing the collective experience felt during a concert.

As a result, each group presents signature pieces that reflect the supported artist and their universe. Think of the tie for Harry Styles’ Together, Together Tour, or the polka dot skirts and dresses for Olivia Dean’s concerts.

However, some concert outfits are designed with a different goal in mind… As was the case during Bad Bunny’s DTMF Tour!

Indeed, beyond the desire to immerse oneself in the concert’s theme, the outfits observed combining crop tops, crochet pieces, cowboy boots, and other scarves were, for some (for many), crafted with the utmost care to stand out and hope for an invitation to the Casita. This motivation is notably behind the boom on social media for content/tips on how to create the perfect concert outfit.

Concert outfit or runway look? When artists become the muses of creators

Beyond the crowd, the artists themselves transform their stage into a runway by showcasing contemporary designers through their concert outfits. Indeed, fashion and music have been intertwined for many years and have led to iconic collaborations like the LOEWE jumpsuit worn by Beyoncé during the Renaissance World Tour, or outfits designed by Harris Reed for Harry Styles’ previous tour.

Recently, Bad Bunny’s appearance on the French Riviera was accompanied by the presence of Simon Porte Jacquemus in the casita and an exclusive outfit created by the designer for the singer. Embroidered “Benito in Marseille,” this concert outfit was revealed in the colors of the South as it should be!

The house of Dior, under the vision of Jonathan Anderson, is also shining on the musical stage right now.

On one hand, the Irish designer has reimagined Rosalía’s costumes for the North American dates of her LUX Tour. Maintaining the original silhouettes of the pieces, he infused the spirit of the Parisian house through the signature details of his recent creations. Thus, all the outfits were in perfect harmony with the artist’s universe and echoed the importance of art in her show.

Beyond custom-made, the stage of Dior’s ambassador artists appears as an extension of the house’s fashion shows, with wardrobes integrating its freshly unveiled creations.

We think particularly of the costumes of the BTS group, recently in Paris, as well as the outfits worn by Guitarricadelafuente for his Spanish Leather Tour.

Between a blazer, scarf, and Médaillon belt during his visit to Paris, an embroidered jacket with spring motifs at Primavera Sound, or pearl-ripped shorts, polo, and jeans for the festivals this summer… The pieces from this new Dior chapter blend elegantly into the artist’s rather casual wardrobe, creating a timeless and enchanting ensemble that mirrors his music.

A lookbook that we owe, certainly, to the creations of the Parisian house, but also thanks to the bold and masterful vision of stylist Luca Guarini.

When stylists are as celebrated as artists

The popularity of artists’ looks increasingly shines a spotlight on the work of stylists, who usually operate in the shadows. Thus, after the rise of profiles linked to the 7th art like Law Roach (and Zendaya) or Felicity Kay (alongside Paul Mescal), the world of music also highlights the talents that elevate artists.

We think particularly of the work of Simone Beyene, Olivia Dean’s stylist (whom we all dream of having by our side!). The collaboration between the stylist and the singer is one of the most praised at the moment, with each look aiming to be more sumptuous than the last.

Showcasing pieces from various designers while keeping the artist’s DNA at the heart of the concert outfit, the looks are characterized by a masterful blend of elegance, modernized vintage cuts, and bold choices of patterns, sequins, and other fringes and feathers.
